The European Reserach Institute for Social Work (ERIS) is proud to announce the preparation of the publication „Social Work with Refugees“ as part of the renown ERIS Monographs series.

Purpose of Publication

The European Research Institute for Social Work, based at the University of Ostrava, is a network of seven European partner universities which addresses current issues and contemporary challenges of Social Work. The ERIS promotes cooperation and research activity of Social Work institutions across Europe and on a wider international scale and provides high-quality funded research projects as well as teaching and learning materials for social work and social care programmes for scholars, practitioners, policy makers and students. As such, the ERIS is a major contributor to a European knowledge base as well as the development of best practice across Europe. More information about ERIS you can find on its website: eris.osu.eu

The arrival of a multitude of refugees in the summer 2015 has affected all of Europe alike. Yet the reactions to this so-called „European refugee-crisis“ differed widely between various countries. Still there is an ongoing struggle within and amongst European nations how to deal with the issues and challenges posed by forced migration to the EU. Therefore, the primary objective of the publication is a comparative approach to Social Work actions concerning refugees which have been taken in different European countries. The book will provide new insights about the theory and practice of „Social Work with Refugees“ from an international perspective in order to promote knowledge transfer.
